LAMENT
Burn Satan Burn
Lament Records
2021

It’s been a great while since I’ve looked into a Lament album. Word has it that they’re going to be releasing a new album in 2024 (the year this review is written), so I thought I would do a bit of catch up, starting–as I normally do–with the more recent release that they’ve done. Which happens to be Burn Satan Burn. Gotta say, love the title.

Their sixth studio album, Burn Satan Burn was released through the band’s own Lament Records label. That cover art is brutal. Will the metalz reflect the cover? Possibly, yeah. One way to find out, though. Let’s give this a spin.

  • “Surrender Is Not An Option” Heavy melodic riff; mid-paced driving, heavy emphasis on bass work…
  • “Behead The Demon Of The Past” Fast, furious thrash death banger; shredding solos…
  • “The Dungeon Of The Doubt” Catchy melodic hook on the riffs; midpaced heavy death n’ roll style banger…
  • “The Gospel Of The Fools” Face melting blastbeats, furious thrash-tastic blackened cut…
  • “Torn Apart Only Physically” Heavy driving metal riff, gets the head banging kind of hook; melodic solo…
  • “Triumph Of The Heights Of Golan” Majestic Invisible Oranges METAL riff to hook you in; sweeping solos, driving heavy metal cut…
  • “The God Of Mercy” Oh, yeah, galloping metal riff, melodic heavy mid-paced; sung in English…
  • “They Come” Furious and speedy thrash banger, rips right into it; shredding solos, touches of melody…
  • “You Have Finished The Race” Midpaced heavy Invisible Oranges riffage, driving and majestic…
  • “I Have Kept The Faith” Driving, melodic death n’ roll metal cut…

Overall: Burn Satan Burn is a really, really good shot of unique and intense melodic death metal. It definitely melds together several styles, providing something unique yet intense. Glad this isn’t the last we’ve heard from these guys.
